Write each service description as a short, self-contained answer: name the service, say what it includes, who it's for, and where you offer it, plus practical details like timeframe or how pricing works. AI systems quote text that is specific, plain, and complete on its own, so skip slogans and vague claims.
A template
- Sentence one: what the service is and who it's for
- Sentence two: what's included and how it works
- Sentence three: where you offer it and the practical details (duration, pricing approach, requirements)
An example
"Emergency water heater replacement for homeowners in Cobb and North Fulton counties. We assess the unit, provide a written quote, and install the same day when parts are available. Most replacements take two to four hours."
That description can be lifted out of the page and still make complete sense. That's the test.
Habits that help
- Use customers' words, not internal jargon or trade shorthand they wouldn't search for
- Be specific with places, numbers, and timeframes you can stand behind
- One service per description, so each can be quoted separately
- Skip unverifiable superlatives like "the best" or "number one." They add nothing an AI can verify
- Keep it current. Outdated details are worse than missing ones
Common mistakes
- Listing services as a single comma-separated line with no explanation
- Writing in first-person marketing language ("we pride ourselves on...")
- Leaving out where the service is offered
- Describing the benefit but never the service itself
Premium listings in Business Directory for AI Systems give each service its own description, alongside service areas, FAQs, and a full business overview. A description a stranger can read and fully understand is one an AI can safely repeat.
